
Celia Ruiz was born in 2005 in Spain. Having began her musical career at an early age, she did her bachelor studies in Spain and then moved to Austria at the age of 16 for doing them as well in the Mozarteum university in Salzburg. She is currently doing her master performance studies in Zürcher Hochschule der Künste in Zürich.

Biography
Celia Ruiz Bermudo was born in Spain in 2005. At the age of seven, she began her musical studies at the Conservatory of Mérida and finished her professional studies of cello with an honor award in 2018.
She entered the Superior Conservatory of Badajoz at the age of 13 and finished these studies with an honor tuition in 2022. She finished her Bachelor studies at the Mozarteum University of Salzburg with Enrico Bronzi in 2024 and is currently studying a Master Music Performance in ZHdK in Thomas Grossenbacher’ class.
Celia has received masterclasses from Álvaro Campos, Josep Martínez Reinoso, Javier Albarés, Suzana Stefanovic, Lluis Claret, Daniel Grosgurin, Asier Polo, Marc Coppey, Fernando Arias, Beatriz Blanco, Ericca Wise, Gary Hoffman, Sebastian Klinger, Amit Peled, Gautier Capuçon, Jerome Pernoo, Pablo Ferrández, Wen Sing Yan, Kian Soltani, Thomas Grossenbacher, Ivan Monighetti, Enrico Dindo, Frans Helmerson, Jeroen Reuling and David Geringas. For five years, she received regular masterclasses from María de Macedo, and the two following years from Mikolaj Konopelski (associate professor at the Reina Sofía School). Celia is also a scholarship holder of the Music Academy in Liechtenstein and takes part in the intensive weeks and activities there.
Celia has been the winner of the “International Young Promises Cello Competition Jaime Dobato Benavente”, the “Intercentros Melómano Competition”, the “CelloLeón Competition”, and the “Young Musicians of Extremadura Contest” as well as of the Special Soloist Award with the OEX, the “City of Vigo String Competition”, the “Llanes International Cello Competition”, the Áccesit Galimusic in Ribeira Sacra’s Festival and the “Villa de Molina Competition”. She won the special prize as Young Promise in the “Dotzauer Competition” at the age of 14 and was a finalist in the “Janigro Competition” at the same age. She won the third prize in the Popper International Competition 2025.
Celia made her orchestral debut at the age of 14 performing at the Mérida Conference Center and at the Carolina Coronado Theater in Almendralejo with the orchestra of Extremadura, interpreting Saint-Saëns cello concerto No. 1 in A minor. She has performed at the Roman theater in Mérida with the young orchestra of Extremadura, at the Segovia Festival and as a finalist in Zagreb (Croatia).
She participated in the TVE programs Virtuosos and Prodigios and was selected at the age of 14 for taking the exam in the excellence class of Gautier Capuçon, she was awarded a scholarship by Amit Peled in 2020 for summer studies at the University of Baltimore as well as a scholarship to take the “Youth Classics” (2022, 2023 and 2025) courses in Rheinau (Switzerland) in Thomas Grossenbacher’s class. She was also selected as an active student to participate in the Pavia Cello Academy (2023/24) with Enrico Dindo, Asier Polo, Jens Peter Maintz and David Geringas.
Celia is a scholarship holder of the Lyra, Elsy Meyer, Geer und Lore, Bruno, ZHdK, Zangger Weber , Giuliana and Stefanini, Caja Almendralejo and of the CH Foundation. She plays a Ragnar Hayn cello.
